Note: If the group’s Hashtag Permissions setting is “Messages can be tagged with new hashtags,” group members who are not moderators can also create hashtags. However, those members cannot later delete any hashtags they created because the system does not track who creates a hashtag. If members want to delete hashtags that they created, they will need to ask an owner or moderator to make the deletion.
To delete a hashtag:
- Desktop browser: In the left menu on the group’s website, select Hashtags.
Mobile device: In the group, tap the More icon at the bottom of a page, then, on the More menu, tap Hashtags. - On the Hashtags page, locate the tag you want to delete and click or tap the Edit Tag button.
- At the bottom of the hashtag’s page, click or tap the Delete button. (In a desktop browser, the button is at the far right.)
- When the Verify Delete confirmation popup appears, click or tap Yes. The hashtag is deleted from the group and removed from all topics that were tagged with it.
Note: Any aliases that pointed to the hashtag are deleted as well.
